I'm Kai. I love music, I prefer the indoors, and the cold for my computers and Calathea plants. And I believe in the Second Amendment.
I use sofmeright everywhere. It's something I heard Marine Corps drill instructors scream during boot camp. It was an inspirational experience in my life spending 2 months there, and the phrase was a funny memento for younger me when I made my League of Legends account around 2014-2015, especially with the irony that I didn't become a marine due to prolonged pneumonia/bronchitis, blacking out on a quarterdeck during IT. I eventually made it my name everywhere out of convenience, later realized some might find it offensive maybe? But can't be bothered to rebrand EVERYTHING... If the name offends you? sofmeright? 🥺 💔 🫡
My taste is all over the place: Metal (Speed, Thrash, Neo-Classical, Power), Electronic (House, Bassline House, Speed Garage, UK Garage, Breaks, D&B, Trance), R&B, Soul, Jazz, Reggae—if it makes interesting sounds, I'm into it.
I like Klipsch audio equipment. I really hope to build my own floor speakers soon, just haven't gotten around to it among other projects.
I'm into creative writing, composing, music production—writing riffs and melodies, messing with chord progressions and rhythms. I also mess around in FL Studio sometimes since 2015 and I'm still about where I started but it's fun. When I code, it's usually to build something practical that makes my life easier.
I like craft beer, photography, poetry, philosophy, dad jokes, shuffling & EDM dance. I'm a datahoarding PC gamer who plays League of Legends. I enjoy lighting my time and money on fire with new projects.
I've been drawn to technology and computers from a young age and I stay just as curious and even more motivated with time, especially because modern tools let me build things I couldn't before.
I like building painfully complicated things that I think one day will make my life simpler and more comfortable. I currently take pride in the fact that I can convince myself that pouring all of my time into Kubernetes and Ceph is making my life more manageable. Is this my life? Should I become a sales rep for Kubernetes? Am I just an easy sale? You should definitely not run kubernetes ⚠️ *cough* Run Kubernetes!!!! 😤 Just trust, 200 hours max, and after that it will be like riding a bike. 🚲 And it will be so worth it 💎😉
I like being challenged and learning things with practical applications. I've built my skills through curiosity-driven experimentation—breaking things, fixing them, and figuring out how they work along the way.
Feel free to ask tech questions. I prefer to share knowledge for free rather than for pay—knowledge should be accessible to everyone.
Vegan for the animals since 2017. I believe all sentient beings deserve the same love and respect—regardless of race, gender, religious/spiritual affiliation, sexuality, income class, mental capacity/physical capabilities, or species.
I try my best to be humane and ethical in all areas of my life. My dream is a community that prioritizes ethics, love, and light above convenience, social pressure, or personal pleasure.
